Metal Roofs

Metal roofs – Corrugated and IBR roofs if not installed correctly can create massive problems for clients. Errors in the design or installation, result in water pools, leaks and rust.

IBR – Inverted Box Rib roof sheeting is a square fluted profile with an effective covering width of 686mm, designed for use as side cladding or roofing material in commercial, industrial and residential buildings.

Both IBR and Corrugated metal roofs are vulnerable to:

  • Moisture and damage from strong winds can lead to separating the overlapping edges of the panels and cause the roof to leak
  • Screws and nails can rust and cause leaks. Usually, all the screws and gaps are sealed and then the product Bondflex is applied
  • Repairing and fixing leaks on an IBR or corrugated metal roof starts with locating the source of the leaks. From there, the method used to fix a particular leak depends on the cause
  • Bondflex Liquid Bitumen, when applied correctly, is very effective in waterproofing both Corrugated and IBR roofs.  Bondflex is effective in bridging hairline cracks and offers long term protection for your roof
In severe cases, a boarding system may be applied over the IBR or Corrugated roof. It is an expensive option but has long term positive results with a 10-year warranty when serviced every 2 years and there is no 3rd party interference. On completion of the waterproofing of an IBR or Corrugated roof, painting the roof is recommended for aesthetics only, and is not considered an extra waterproofing agent.

Corrugated and IBR Roof Waterproofing

Corrugated and IBR roofs, while cheaper to install, have historically created massive problems for clients.  If the roof was not designed or installed correctly, water pools, resulting in leaks and rust.
